Recently, the Malaysian electronic electric energy committee adjusted the compulsory certification product listing, compulsory certification of electrical and electronic products will increase to 31 class from an existing 34 classes, main is to increase the air conditioning, adapter/charger, massager three kinds of products, replaced the hair dryer for evaporator, mosquito dispeller replacement of two kinds of products for an electric razor.
The mandatory certification of the new products will take effect from January 1, 2013. There are two legal bases for the certification of electrical and electronic products in Malaysia: the electricity supply act (1990) and the electrical equipment approval ordinance (1994), both of which are enforced by the energy council. The license for power supply provides power installation and control of the power equipment, distribution and protect the personal safety requirements, the latter prescribes any manufacturer, importer, exhibition business, vendors and advertisers electrical products must ensure that they meet the standard requirements, acceptance certificate (COA), and labeled with the SIRIM label/logo, otherwise cannot sells on the market in Malaysia. Fourteen days before the expiration of the COA, manufacturers, importers, exhibitors and advertisers of electrical products must apply for a review of the COA. According to the regulations on the approval of electrical equipment (1994), the standards for product certification are mainly national standards and equivalent IEC standards, and some products even directly use IEC standards.
In this regard, the inspection and quarantine department to remind the relevant enterprises: first, timely completion of mandatory certification of enterprise products as required, do a good job in the pre-work; Second, the product is produced in strict accordance with IEC standards in the production process, because most of the relevant standards for the certification of electronic and electrical products in Malaysia are based on IEC standards. Even if some national standards are adopted, they are also revised on the basis of IEC standards. Third, strengthen the communication with inspection and quarantine institutions, timely understand the relevant standard changes; Fourth, actively explore emerging markets and avoid risks.
